King Abdullah phoned Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas today to check up on his health after the latter was discharged from the hospital for a routine check-up yesterday, according to a tweet by the Royal Hashemite Court.

The 87-year-old leader was undergoing regular examinations at a Hospital in Ramallah.

Last year, Abbas, a heavy smoker, underwent an emergency heart procedure after suffering exhaustion and chest pains, while dismissing rumors that he had a stroke.
