The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has decided to resume the importation of Jordanian fruits and vegetables, Minister of Agriculture Khaled Hneifat announced, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra on Wednesday.

The UAE had implemented a 70-day ban on the importation of seven types of Jordanian vegetables, including squash, eggplant, sweet pepper, lettuce, cauliflower, cabbage and green beans, Hneifat explained.

The minister said that the decision to life the ban came as a result of the ministry's "continuous efforts", as well as further measures regarding pesticide residues, Petra reported.

The UAE is one of Jordan’s biggest importers of fruits and vegetables, with over 155,000 tonnes of produce exported annually, the news agency quoted Hneifat as saying.
