Iran declared on Wednesday that they considered the US Congress vote to impose new sanctions on it a “hostile move” that violates the bands of the 2015 nuclear deal between the two countries.

The agreement signed by the two countries stipulated that Iran would greatly reduce nuclear production in return for reduced sanctions.

Congress announced on Tuesday a decision which Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Arakji deems “a mix of previous US sanctions in non-nuclear fields.” He added that the sanctions could still affect the successful implementation of the nuclear agreement, and decrease Iran’s benefits from the deal.
