Architect Muna Shdeifat has been asked by the Minister of Public Works to commence work on tearing down the building of Asma bin Yazeed School for girls in Jerash, following a court order.

Shdeifat said that the school’s assets are currently being inventoried prior to its closure. The school was built in 2010 next to another school, Abu Thur Alghafari, but did not comply with the standards set for schools and was therefore left abandoned.

The court order was announced because of the school’s perceived danger to the public, having repeatedly proven to be an atmosphere friendly to recklessness and drug use.
