The speed of Internet services provided to various ministries, institutions, departments and government bodies has increased by 40 percent, according to Baha Aldin Al Khasawneh from The Directorate of the National Information Technology Center (NITC).

According to a statement issued by the center on Saturday, the increase came after NITC signed an annual tender for the provision of Internet services, increasing the speed to 3.5 Gbps for the current year in comparison to last year’s 2.5 Gbps.

Al Khasawneh said that a special tender committee at NITC set the required specifications before the tender was presented in local newspapers.

According to AL Khasawneh, after review, the bid was forwarded to three companies: Bahrain Jordanian Umniah Company, which will provide the center with 2000Mbps, Al-Moakhah Company for Logistics and Communications, 1000Mbps, Modernity for Telecommunications and Technology 500Mbps.

Al Muakhah added that the tender guarantees the safe internet service (Clean Pipe).

He pointed out that increasing the speed of the Internet to government institutions directly contributes to enhancing the level of e-government services, positively reflecting on citizens who benefit from the electronic services provided by government institutions.
