The Jordanian government reiterated its support for Saudi Arabia in its fight against terrorism, and praised its efforts in foiling a potential suicide bomber who aimed to launch an attack on the Grand Mosque in Mecca on Thursday night, Petra reports.

Mohammad Al Momani, Minister of State Media Affairs, condemned the attempted attack and reiterated Jordan’s call for implement concerted efforts to combat terrorism.

In a statement on Saudi state television, the ministry reported that three cells had planned to attack worshipers and security forces at Mecca mosque, as the Muslim holy month of Ramadan nears its end.

The planned attack was foiled after the would-be attacker in an apartment, where he blew himself up, the Interior Ministry said.
