Taking some time out from her royal duties, her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan performed Umrah on Wednesday, according to a statement by the Royal Hashemite Court.

Before jetting off to the holy city of Mecca, the socially-active queen attended the night before a special Ramadan iftar held by the “Queen Rania Teacher Academy” (QRTA).

The glamorous monarch was joined by the Minister of Education, Omar Razzaz, President of Jordan University, Professor Dr. Azmi Mahafzah and a host of trainee teacher students of her Teacher Education Professional Diploma program (TEPD), principals of the Advanced Instructional Leadership Professional Diploma program, and trainers and senior staff of the QRTA.

The TEPD program was first launched in 2016 in collaboration with University College London (UCL) and in partnership with the University of Jordan and the Ministry of Education.

Aimed at equipping teachers with the necessary skills and expertise to become expert classroom navigators, the program is the first of its kind in Jordan and the region.
